Ranking the 5 Best Bushcraft Channels on YouTube - Bushcraft Wild (2024)

Are you craving an outdoor getaway? Not all of us have the opportunity to venture into nature whenever the urge strikes, but that doesn’t mean we can’t live vicariously through others. Today, we’re ranking the best bushcraft YouTube channels that you need to start following.

How Our Rankings Work

First off, there’s a lot of great content out there, so narrowing down the best bushcraft channels on YouTube was no easy task. We decided that we would judge the channels by carefully looking at the following criteria:

  1. Subscriber Count – The number of subscribers a channel has directly corresponds to how many people find it useful and enjoyable. We understand that it takes a while to build a following, and this will eliminate some newer channels. Which is why we will continue to update the list ast channels continue to grow.
  2. Number of Videos – The number of bushcraft videos a YouTube channel has makes all the different. The last thing you need is to get hooked on viewing your favorite pastime, just to run out of material.
  3. Health Mix – Some channels are great for teaching valuable survival skills, while others give a first hand view of the bushcraft experience. We believe having a healthy mix of videos is important to becoming the best bushcraft channel on YouTube.
  4. Quality of Content – The overall quality of content matters here. The idea here is to capture the beauty and essence of the great outdoors. Watching a grainy or poor quality video pretty much kills the mood.

Honorable Mentions

When doing our research for the greatest bushcraft and survival channels online, we knew that it was going to be tough to narrow it down. While we did eventually find our favorites, we would be remiss to not include one channel that didn’t crack the top 5.

Nagualero

Nagualero is probably the most unique bushcraft channel on YouTube. What started out as a painting channel about 7 years ago, quickly evolved into one of the most creatively popular nature channels.

From canvas time-lapses, to spending days outdoors in a rainstorm, there’s a little something for everyone. We had a really difficult time leaving Nagualero off our list, which is why we decided to include him as an honorable mention. One look at his channel, and you’ll instantly be hooked.

5 Best Bushcraft Youtube Channels

It’s time to get to the list you’ve all been waiting for. We do urge you to keep in mind that not everyone will agree with our list. People have their own preferences, and if you’ve been following bushcraft online for a while, you likely have your own go to channels.

That being said, we’re confident that these channels will get you excited about the outdoors. More importantly, they will provide you with the foundation you need to tackle a bushcraft adventure of your own one day.

1. TA Outdoors

Mike Pullen started TA Outdoors around 5 years ago, but not primarily as a bushcraft channel. Originally, TA Outdoors focused more on DIY (do it yourself), and covered things like rodent control to repair home damage.

Today, Mike is the brains behind one of the largest bushcraft and survival channels on YouTube, with over 1.5 million subscribers tuning in. Most of the videos focus on building long-term shelters that are closer to actual homes.

There’s really a ton of great content buried on the TA Outdoors channel, and which is both informative and entertaining. The video quality is top notch, which means you can have their playlist on loop for hours.

2. Joe Robinet (Link)

There’s honestly a case to be made for Joe Robinet to be the top bushcraft channel on YouTube. Joe’s channel has been around for about 10 years, which means there is loads of great and informative content on his channel. It’s also fun to watch the evolution of both content and video quality over the last decade.

When it comes to bushcraft, there’s nobody better than Joe Robinet. He’ll easily become one of your favorite survival and bushcraft guides, and it doesn’t hurt that his dog often steals the show. Fun bonus, there are also some dog training gems on the channel as well.

Joe puts a refreshing spin on bushcraft and nature videos, because he chooses not to edit out his mistakes. Yes, even the best in the game still mess up every once in a while, which gives hope to the rest of us.

3. Bertram – Craft and Wilderness

Hailing from Denmark, Bertram’s craft and wilderness channel has generated a cult following, and for good reason. When it comes to traditional bushcraft and survival skills, it’s hard to find anyone who does it better.

But it doesn’t stop there.

Bertram may not have the vast library as some of the other’s on this list, but it’s about quality over quantity. If you want to put on a bushcraft YouTube playlist that will make you feel as if you’re out in nature, this is the channel for you.

It’s hard to match Bertram’s video production skills. Especially when you consider that he does it all on his own.

4. David Canterbury – Wilderness Outfitters

Is there a bigger name in wilderness and survival than David Canterbury? This bushcraft YouTube channel is everything you would expect from a legend, with perhaps the largest library of content that you’ll find.

Canterbury’s main focus is on teaching self-sustainability, and he does a great job of it. Canterbury’s YouTube channel also highlights some of his favorite gear and survival tools, such as knives and kits.

We highly recommend this channel for bushcraft beginners and seasoned veterans. There’s always something to learn, and Canterbury has the knowledge and experience to teach.

5. Wild Woman Bushcraft

If you want to both learn and enjoy scenic nature videos, then look no further than Wild Woman Bushcraft. Run by Vanessa, this bushcraft YouTube channel has a little something for everyone, especially dog lovers.

Vanessa stays true to the art of bushcraft, which isn’t always for the faint of heart. However, if you really want to learn about survival in the bush (even if it means eating insects), Wild Woman Bushcraft covers just about everything.

Wild Woman Bushcraft has a sister channel as well, which is German. So, if you’re looking for some bonus material, you can check out Vaness Blank – Bushcraft & Abenteuer.

Check Back for Updates

It feels like we find new bushcraft channels on YouTube every day, and we’re not complaining. As the popularity of survival and nature videos continues to grow, we expect more amazing videos to pop up.

For that reason, we’ll make sure to continuously update our list. So, make sure to check back every so often to find new hidden bushcraft gems. Also, don’t hesitate to let us know if we missed your favorite channel.
