I’m a very serious salad eater. I use the freshest ingredients that I can find for each one, and I almost always toss them in one of my homemade salad dressings.
My dressings have no preservatives or artificial ingredients, so they’re fresher tasting then anything that I can buy at the store.
I love a my cool, creamy Greek yogurt ranch or louie dressing, but most of the time I prep a simple vinaigrette to have on hand during the week.
My Greek salad dressing and this Red Wine Vinaigrette are favorites, and all they require is a small mason jar and lid to make!
They’re so easy and flavorful, and are proof that homemade is always best. 🙂

Ingredient notes
- Olive oil. For best results, use a good quality extra virgin olive oil.
- Red wine vinegar. This vinegar is a staple in Mediterranean cuisine and is known for its tangy red wine flavor. For best results, choose a red wine vinegar that’s higher quality, or at least not the cheapest that you can find.
- Lemon juice. Fresh lemon juice really makes this dressing shine. It brightens all the flavors, so I don’t recommend omitting it.
- Dijon mustard. This is the secret ingredient that truly makes this dressing next level. It’s packed with savory umami flavor, which gives it great depth of flavor.
- Optional add-ins: If you want to add even more flavor, consider adding finely chopped shallot, minced garlic, or your favorite fresh or dried herbs.
