We all have a childhood dream of becoming a certain character, or obtaining a certain skill set. Some want to be a knight in shining armor, some just want to be an elf archer.The following story is about archer boy named Leo and his buddy Zii.
Leo has always been training alone like avagabond, he never experienced the joy of companion because he thought he was a wandering lone ronin. One day, he walked passed a crimson colored bow that shrines with a mystical aura, he was mesmerized. He asked the vendor in the market for its prize, only to found out he was more than a few zennies short. Leo poured out every last piece of equipment he had in his backpack, emptied his pockets, and even down to the few pieces of candies.
"Oh these are no ordinary candies!" Zii said.
"Yes, these can transform you into a mystical creatures! Jack O'lantern man, Gargoyle, you name it! But, I lost the wrappers, I can't tell which one's which.. " Leo replied. "So are these enough for the bow?"
Zii paused for a minute, as he glanced Leo from head to toe, he noticed a ring, threaded through by a string, and hanging around his neck. "That is a Rogue's Treasure, leave that here, and that will do."
Leo looked down, berried his eyes under his bang, and started picking up all the equipment and rare materials he found along the way of his journey. Without hesitance, Leo walked away, mumbled out a word "Azuni.."
"Hey, traveler" "That ring means something to you, doesn't it? " Zii asked, as he handed out the red bow. "Give it a try. And we can break even if you can take me along in your journey and show me around. City life had been getting boring."
Leo was in awe. Seconds later, he brought up a big smile and said "My name is Leo, I am a ranger from the archer's village!"
"Zii, a biochemist."
The two shook hands and began the journey.
The two quickly became good friends, conversation was never dull. What even faster was their progress, Leo can now shoot 10 arrows at once, Zii had become better and better at creating healing potions, the two were undefeated.. Unless Leo spaced out, of course... Looking back, evidently, he was accident prone. Getting a swift knock out by a mushroom monster, failing the Novice Personality Test to become an archer even after reading the answer key. Those scars on his knees.. He tripped over stair steps..
One day, the two wandered into The Ruins named Juperos, it was a lost city that is overwhelmingly advanced for the current day and age, nobody knows how such a city so ahead of its time came to its demise. Not an organic sound can be heard, no chirping of birds nor cricket. All that left is the metallic sound of grinding gear, the whole city is filled with robots, powered by unknown source, and walking aimlessly.
"Go slow, maybe we will find some treasure up in that building." Zii said. Leo unconsciously started gripping his bow firmer.
As Leo and Zii quietly disabling the robots one by one, they noticed every robot seems to have a specific fragment that seems to fit into each like a key and lock... "They may worth a good price in the city." Zii said. So they two started collecting these as they quietly sneak closer to the building.
"Hang on, is it just me or there are more and more these robots creeping our way?" Leo asked as he reach his hand into quiver. "Zii, I think we gotta run, I am running out of arrows..." The two panicked, but it was too late to run back out of the ruins. There was no choice but to run inside the building for shelter.
"How do you open this, its stuck?!?!" Leo leaning into the door with his shoulder, and pushing his leg with all his might. Zii looked around noticed there is a carved out space in the door, within the space, there lays a pattern that seems familiar. Zii quickly pulled out the fragments he collected the robots and started puzzling them onto the carved out space.
A line of green line came down from the top of the door and down, an opening space began to appear. Perhaps it is been decades since the last time this door opens, the door only opened ever so narrowly that only one person can fit side way at a time. The two squeeze out the last breath out of their lung, and began to craw into this small space as a swamp of robots closely follows.
"Annng-BAM" Just as the two entered into through the door, the door slammed shut, crushing the robots following.
Both Leo and Zii were exhausted from the chase, Leo sat on the floor, out of breath "Too-- Too-- Too close.. We made i-----Wahhhhhh" The ground began to tremble. Leo was in shock. "What the-" They soon realized they were not on solid floor, they were in a closed room that seems to be elevating.
A loud deep voice emerged "goiuhrgapeal;dmbhuteanmd!!" No intelligible words were heard, but you can tell it is not friendly!
Leo whispered "I am going to make some arrows from these robot scraps!" "We need to be quiet and each take a corner of the room, it may not know there are two of us, we can revive one another!" Leo is ready for the fight of his life, his voice is breaking down.
The elevating room is dark, the voice continues and the source of sound is coming closer and closer from above..
Perhaps Zii is in freighted, he did not listen and sat closely next to Leo.
"What are you doing, you are sitting in my corner, sit in a different corner dummy! you gunna get us killed!" Leo angrily whispered. A moment like this, Leo realized Zii had accepted his fate, and lost his will to survive. Leo quickly tumbled into the other corner of the room, shoved newly made arrows into his quiver, readied for the monster emerging from above. He was ready to take the matter into his own hand, to defend for his friend, to survive.
Suddenly the floor came to a abrupt stop, bright light began to shrine down from above. The ends of the room began to be clear, it was a wide room, floor was decorated with beautiful patterns of gems.
"It's an elevator, idiot." Zii said while rolling his eyes.
"Why didn't you tell me so!?" Leo scratches his head, frustrated.
"You walked away as soon as I sat next to you!" Zii said
"Hhahahahaahah" "Hahahhahahaha" "You should have told me, I clutched my tail so hard!"
Under the bright light, a sharp corner with dark golden rim is radiating an aura out of Zii's pocket, but Leo didn't notice.
