The 23 best restaurants to try in Conwy (2024)

The Erskine Arms is a gastropub which specializes in Welsh cuisine. The pub has outdoor seating, highchairs available, and serves alcohol. It also offers free wifi and accepts credit cards.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Erskine Arms, it truly is an excellent hotel…..here’s why.It is centrally located in the very heart of Conwy, an historic town ideally located to explore, not only the medieval delights of the town itself but North Wales as a whole. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are spotlessly clean ( as is the hotel as a whole)The quality of food in the hotel is exceptional - we stayed for three nights and ate in for two evening meals! (Top tip - ensure you reserve a table well in advance!)We have stayed in many hotels, this is definitely one of our favourites- 5 stars all day long!

Absolutely fantastic food and the staff are genuinely friendly and very welcoming, they're a credit to the place. We stopped by having missed our train and they welcomed us, promising to deliver some food in time for us to catch our next. We spoke to a blonde lady (she works part time at the restaurant and is a civil servant in her day to day, please ensure she gets our thanks) who was very accommodating and took a real interest in us as customers. The food was fantastic, the setting was beautiful. Highly recommended

Stayed here to 2 nights and had a lovely time. The hotel is super clean big spacious room big bed and plenty of tea/ coffee. Breakfast we great plentiful hot and freshly cooked to order. We ate at the restaurant both evenings and the food was fabulous!! Staff are so professional polite and not in your face. Would recommend and will be staying again when in Conwy❤️

We stopped here for dinner whilst on holiday. All tables were booked, but we managed to get a table by the bar. It was extremely busy. The food was nice, but my chips were stone cold! However, the Erskine Burger was very nice and cooked as I requested it to be

Enjoyed a lovely, elevated Sunday lunch here. The meal was delicious, the service was pretty quick considering it was rather busy at the time we went (mid afternoon).Part of the indoor seating area is dog friendly which was nice to see, but we opted outside in the courtyard area. The only minor complaint is that we would have liked more vegetables as part of the dish, rather than needing to order extra for the table. That being said, the portion was overall decent! If we're back in Conwy, we would all be happy to return to try more from the menu

Lovely pub we stayed at for 3 nights. Are there the first night and had breakfast each morning. All the food was lovely. Our room was spotless and quiet. Only criticism is the bed wasn't very comfortable and needs a new mattress.

Beautifully appointed rooms, spotlessly clean & comfortable bed. The staff are very helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant. We had dinner and the menu was imaginative and the food was delicious. Full Welsh breakfast included many locally sourced items. The hotel is in a great central location yet peaceful. Some hotel parking available but there is plenty of spaces in the train station right in front of the hotel

Been here a few times now and it's quickly become our staple visit whenever we stay in Conwy.Great homely atmosphere, friendly staff, and most importantly excellent quality food.Expect to pay gastropub prices but enjoy premium quality food for your money. Worth every penny.

Popped in for a pint, lovely welcoming staff. Lovely clean place and looks like an amazing place to eat. Was a little too busy and noisy for my liking, more to do with some customers who were half-cut at 5pm on a Saturday - they have a bouncer on the door which tells you a lot in my opinion!Went back for lunch on a Thursday and much quieter, food was fabulous and very tasty, seems to me it is best enjoyed when it is not too busy.

Great pub in the heart of Conwy, although can't comment on the rooms. We stopped for a meal with a group of 6 plus our dog. You can sit inside with dogs but we chose the little courtyard outside. Nice atmosphere and really nicely decorated inside too. The service was quick and friendly and the food was excellent, all 6 of us agreed it was the best meal we'd had in 2 weeks on holiday in the local area. I can particularly recommend the bacon chop with black pudding bubble & squeak. Will definitely be going back for another meal next time we're in the area.

Did not stay at the hotel. Often come here as our favourite place to eat in Conwy. Can get busy at times, have had a lovely lunch and dinner here. Great local beer, good nonalcoholic drinks for those who need it, and tasty local food thoughtfully made with good portions. Really solid place to go. Do make reservations if you need to eat in the dining room! I think it's also dog-friendly which is useful if you have a furry friend! Patio is really nice when it's sunny out as well.

The rooms were great, the breakfast was good. The problem was that most of the evening menu relied on complexity and price (high) than on pleasing diners.Good Welsh food doesn't need Orange Tagine to please.Learn from your hubris.

Part of a fairly large pub/dining group. Clean and attractive. Food pretty good and competitively priced. There is a pay car park by the nearby railway station - not too expensive but not much free parking nearby. They keep their real ale very well and serve at right temperature. Staff are very pleasant. Popular, so worth booking in advance if you are travelling any distance. You can do this online.

Popped in with no reservation, ate in the bar section downstairs. I had the Erskine burger, my family had the steak and the fishfinger burger, and we had three pints of beer (including Neck Oil, my favourite!) It was pretty reasonable prices, a lovely atmosphere with log fires on the go and good service at the bar- even though it was really busy. One of the best pub options in Conwy I would say. Note that the bar section is down some steps so not accessible for wheelchairs.

Disappointing service. Ordered one of the most expensive bottles of wine from the wine menu and it was plonked on the table without any offer to taste it and without the waitress pouring the first glass.Ordered from the nibbles menu to enjoy with the wine whilst waiting for starters however the nibbles were brought at the same time as the starters. Wouldn’t have ordered nibbles if we had known that they would come together.Found a hair in a main courses but didn’t complain as couldn’t be 100% certain it wasn’t one of our own.Tasty food but lots of improvements needed for service

Booked in for a meal at short notice, plenty of places to park for the evening. We were shown to our table without delay. The wine menu was reasonably priced. The menu was fantastic, the service was excellent and the food was absolutely faultless. What a great little place to eat in the heart of Conwy 10/10!!!

Premium inn in the walled city of Conwy, close to the castle, and within walking distance of everything you want to see. Their restaurant is fantastic!! Everything we had was delicious and we were very happy with the bottle of wine we had. We stayed at their rehabilitated chapel across the street called "Y Capel". It is amazing and very nice. Luxury accomodations and very romantic.

We didn't stay at the hotel but had an excellent dinner. The quality of both our starters and main courses was superb. We agreed the best meal we'd each had this year (we are foodies and travel a lot). The cod loin, mussels, samphire and smoked cauliflower puree was amazing. The couscous with the the lamb kebabs was so tasty. As a side dish, the honey glazed roasted carrots were incredible - diners on nearby table were talking about them. Also as a pleasant surprise our meal prices were very reasonable. Thank you, please don't change and we will be back!

I wish I could give this place a positive rating, but the experience we had was nothing short of horrendous. We called in advance, checking if a table for five was available, and were assured that while the restaurant was fully booked, the bar would have ample space for us. Excited and relieved, we made our way there within 10 minutes, only to be met with utter chaos and disrespect. The bar was jam-packed, not a single table in sight. Feeling confused, we approached the gentleman we had spoken to on the phone, hoping for some guidance or at the very least, an apology for the misinformation. Instead, we were met with indifference and rudeness. He nonchalantly informed us that they were fully booked, as if we hadn't just called and been assured of the opposite. When we expressed our frustration and disappointment, hoping for some sort of resolution, he simply turned his back on us.It was a blatant show of disrespect and unprofessionalism. We were left standing there, feeling humiliated and frustrated, while he moved on to other customers, completely disregarding the situation he put us in. The lack of accountability and sheer rudeness was appalling. Not only did this pub waste our time, but they also showed a complete lack of regard for their customers. It would have been fair and professional to warn us that there was a chance we might not get a table, instead of making false promises and leaving us stranded.I am appalled by the lack of customer service and basic decency shown by the staff at this establishment. It's clear that they do not value their customers or care about providing a good experience. I would strongly advise against visiting this place, unless you want to be treated with disrespect and left fuming with frustration.

We only went in with the intention of having a quick drink whilst having a walk around Conwy. There was live music on as we arrived and after seeing the food come out we ended up staying for some ourselves. The fish and chips were lovely and the Bailey’s crème brûlée was to die for! They were really accommodating and we didn’t have to wait long for food which was surprising given we hadn’t booked and it was a Sunday afternoon. The staff were really friendly it’s a really cosy atmosphere.

Booked in for meal on recommendation from another hotel as being best in area. Told last available table out of about 10. In the two hours we were there only 4 other tables were filled. Plenty of space but they tell people they are full to give false impression. Food was nice but not great quantity.

The grub was awesome! We had a blast with our choices – went for the fish and chips, and my partner dove into a chicken burger. Oh, and dessert? We wrapped it up with a sticky toffee pudding that was just downright tasty. The food was on point, with the fish and chips nailing that crispy perfection, and the chicken burger packing a flavor punch. And let's not forget those chips – seriously, who knew fries could be this good? The drinks were a cool mix, covering everything from chill non-alcoholic sips to some crafty co*cktails. A nice touch to wash down all that goodness. And that sticky toffee pudding? Pure bliss. It was like a dessert symphony in my mouth – rich, sweet, and just what we needed to cap off the feast.Bottom line? This place not only knows how to cook up a storm but also brings a laid-back vibe to the table. The service was spot-on, and we left with happy bellies and plans to hit it up again. If you're into top-notch nosh in a chill setting, this spot's a winner.

Bar service was fab and attentive. Restaurant not so. When I asked, I was told there were no tables. I had drinks and was there for over an hour - whilst the restaurant sat completely empty, waiting for later reservations. I went to Dylans to eat instead.

Quick lunch stop,.took a few starters and was very happy with both the food and service. Ate in the pub rather than restaurant, in front of a cozy fire with other people and their dogs. A welcoming, friendly place that ibwould return to.

Nice central food pub in Conwy, successfully keeping diners and drinkers well looked after on a busy Saturday night. Good selection of ales served.

Another lovely Sunday lunch yesterday. We enjoyed shoulder of Welsh Lamb and Cod Loin. Absolutely everything on the plate was cooked to perfection. V efficient service and a great pianist. Well done to the Erskine team, consistently excellent!
