Teagan Revette belted a 3-run homer in the seventh inning to lead Orange Beach to a 4-1 victory over Houston Academy in AHSAA South Regional softball action on Tuesday.
The win sends three-time champion Orange Beach to next week’s state championship tournament as the Class 4A No. 1 qualifier.
AHSAA regional softball tournaments continued on Tuesday with 16 teams winning to the state championship tournament.
Double-elimination play in Class 6A and Class 4A ended on Tuesday while Class 5A and Class 1A began and will finish on Wednesday. Class 2A and Class 3A start on Wednesday, finishing on Thursday.
The top two teams in each class from four regionals – South at Gulf Shores Sportsplex, Central at Montgomery’s Lagoon Park, East at Albertville’s Sand Mountain Park and North at Florence’s Coffee O’Neal Park – advance to next week’s state championship tournament in Oxford.
The winners bracket champion earns the state tournament No. 1 qualifier while the elimination bracket winner will be the No. 2 qualifier in each class.
Class 4A top-ranked Orange Beach (42-1) and second-ranked Houston Academy (40-3) were tied 1-all in a pitcher’s dual between Orange Beach’s KG Favors and Houston Academy’s Emily Adams before Revette’s seventh inning heroics.
Favors struck out 11 in the win.
