Why I No Longer Take Cold Showers (2)

Yep, I tested it for 6 months and it's not for me... but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try it.

Yep. You heard that right... I no longer take cold showers.

I know a few months ago I was encouraging you to give it a test, to try taking cold showers and maybe even an ice bath.

I had done a lot of research on Wim Hoff. If you're not familiar with him, he's known as the Iceman and he's got all kinds of studies, all kinds of programs that show amazing, amazing health benefits from cold showers and ice baths.

So for six months, every time I took my shower, at the end I shut off the hot water and took an ice cold shower.

I even bought a clock and put it up on the wall, so I could time and do at least two minutes.

I would get all cleaned up and at the end I would take a deep breath, gird my loins and I'd shut the hot water completely off and I would take an ice cold shower for anywhere from two to five minutes.

I’m always recommending that you need to test and find what works for you.

So there were a few things I was trying to fix.

I have a little bit of a sinus condition and a few other things I was trying to fix.

I was thinking that these cold showers… based upon the results that Wim Hoff and others had would fix my issues

Well, after six months I saw no significant improvement in any of those issues.

And I know, I know, I know, I know I can fix the sinus, the nasal congestion by just completely, 100% eliminating sugars and processed food (which I'm doing now.)

I think I was using the cold showers as an excuse to keep eating foods that were not optimal for my body.

So I abandoned cold showers.

Will I take a cold shower occasionally?

I honestly don't know.

One other issue is that a cold shower puts you in that flight or fight mode.

It stresses your body.

I didn't like that first thing in the morning.

I like to be peaceful and calm.

I get up and I meditate before I go to my classes.

The ice cold was putting me in this anxious state that I really didn't want to be in.

So no, I no longer take cold showers.

And I'm pleased... because I did the evaluation.

I gave it six months.

I gave it a chance.

And when it was over, I evaluated and I said, you know what?

It didn't do me any good.

So I am no longer taking cold showers.

I am back to eating 100% healthy.

I've gotten rid of all processed food, all sugar. I know I thrive on that.

It's really very simple to thrive and feel great every single day.

It's simple... you have to move, you breathe deeply, you get rid of processed foods, you get good sleep, then you hydrate.

As always, I encourage you to test things, even the things I tell you, like those five items.

Test them by incorporating them into your life.

Give up processed foods, give up sugar 100%, give up alcohol.

See if that changes your life and it doesn't try something else, if it does, you might want to start thinking about, rather than rewarding yourself with a treat.

You reward yourself with a healthy meal.

Personally, when I'm craving that chocolate, when I'm craving ice cream, instead of saying I had a rough day, I'm going to reward myself with ice cream.

I say I had a rough day I'm going to reward myself by embracing my body and loving my body and scrambling some eggs for maybe a little extra meal.

That's my advice for today...

With that move well, stay healthy, be happy, live every single day with passion. I will talk to you next time.
