Having scientists willing and able to share, represent and sometimes defend their science in the media is important. Scientists sharing their work with lay audiences helps create an informed society that can make informed choices - from governments, policy makers and business leaders big decisions to individuals in their daily lives. This is especially important for climate change, health, vaccination, energy and other areas of research and innovation that are contested in the media.And sometimes talking science in the media is just plain fun! I really encourage scientists to do media training - not just because I'm one of the trainers and I love doing it, but because expert comment has never been more important. #MediaTraining #ScienceCommunication

NEXAT, in releasing around 95% of the soil from the annual cycle of compaction damage & repair has got to be the right way to go. It massively reduces energy inputs to the soil & the emissions associated with those inputs as well as reducing emmissions from the soil in the form of nitrous oxide & net fluxes of methane. If we are serious about achieving net zero from food & fibre production, then wide span CTF is the logical starting point & offers numerous other advantages. If you haven't thought about it in these contexts, now's the time!
